Neyyar River, Kerala
The Neyyar River is another river in Kerala that is found in the Western Ghats. The Neyyar River flows through the Agastya Mala (Agastyakoodam) hills in Kanyakumari before reaching Kerala. Neyyattinkara, which is a popular town in Thiruvananthapuram is named after this rivers, as it flows through the town.
The Neyyar River flows through Neyyattinkara before it merges with the Laskhadweep Sea near Poovar. With an overall length of 56 km, the Neyyar river has several tributaries such as the Kallar river, Mullayar River and the Karavaliyar river. Apart from the tributaries, there are also various small canals along this river. The well known Neyyar Irrigation Project, “Neyyar Dam” is situated through the path of this river. There is also a wildlife safari park that is located near the river.
